Holy H-E-Double Hockey Sticks!

MAD props to runners that push jogging strollers (I'm talking about you Shelly, Mel & her Tall Hubby, Kerrie, Laurie, TMB and many more of you).  My first excursion running with Goober (outside my body, weird!) was yesterday, and all I can say is...GOOD GRIEF!  That's TOUGH!  Not only was I extremely winded going up hills--and I had to walk most of them--but I had to dodge around garbage cans.
Note to self: Do not go running with Goober on Mondays.  Manuevering stroller that much makes me feel drunk.
Of course Goob was completely out the entire time, just loving the fact that she was in motion.  Yay for naps!  But dude, pushing a stroller made me have to readjust my stride and running style.  I felt very awkward, and most likely looked like a running mom noob.  Oh well, we went 2.5 miles!

After the run, Goob was a little shocked too...as you can tell from this picture.  This look remained on her face for about 5 minutes.  It was pretty funny.
Whaaaa?
My jogging stroller needs a name.  Since apparently all my nicknames start with "G," I'm thinking he (yeah, I figure my stroller's a dude) needs a G name.  Taking suggestions in comments and on Facebook.  Perhaps even making this a contest for a prize, with readers voting for the best name.
Have at it, creative minds!

  2. Yup, running with a stroller is different... I've told my husband (after running with ours for a year and a half and trying to hurt myself) that in order to maintain my posture I need to imagine I have a stick up my butt. Not a great image to have stuck in your head, but it does help me remember to be straight not hunched over.

First guy's "G" name that popped into my head was Gary. Not great, but maybe it suits your stroller? :p

  3. Goober is too stinkin cute.

Once you find your stride with the stroller you will be fine. There is an adjustment period, which will show it's ugly face again if you go a while without a stroller run.

So, can we see a picture of this stroller for inspiration?

  7. I have three children and can count on one hand how many times I have ran and pushed them in a stroller at the same time. Running is 'my' time...and there is that extra "HARD" issue! :) Major props to all of you that do!

  8. Here's my idea. How about G6? I just got back from a girls weekend and this song (Far East Movement-G6) was played at the after party I went to. It's been in my head ever since.

    Here's the definition.

Slang for the Gulfstream G650, a twin-engine jet airplane manufactured by Gulfstream Aerospace.

The estimated pricetag exceeds $58 million USD, and will be assembled in Gulfstream's new manufacturing facility in Savannah, Georgia. Gulfstream begins taking orders for the aircraft in April, 2010, with delivery beginning in 2012.
    Example usage:

    "I’m feelin' so fly like a G6".

  9. I forgot to add it flies at speeds of Mach 0.90 or 572 mph. Maybe it would help make your stroller go faster with a speedy name.

    Goober is so cute.

  14. Good for you for getting out there! I've often wondered if it's as hard as it looks! For the name, how about "god-it's-so-freakin-hard-to-push-this-thing" or "G-freak" for short?

    ;)

  16. Pushing the jogging stroller takes some getting used to - you have to figure out what to do with your arm. BUT, it's a seriously good workout! I credit pushing my 25-lb baby in my old heavy jogger for my good cardio health, which is better than my 10-15 miles/week would suggest :) GO MAMA!!!

  17. Yay for the first stroller run, sporty mama! And Yay for going 2.5 miles and the hills! I'd go for Greyhound as a nickname for the stroller. ;)
