Argh!

So I ran for the first time in two weeks yesterday. Due to all the snow/ice and other stuff on the roads (and the absence of a treadmill), I couldn't run for a while. I was really bummed about not running, but yesterday felt great. I only went about 2.9 miles, but that's not bad.

Greenlake, Take Two

Ran Greenlake last night and kicked its butt twice. My tracker wasn't working very well, so I was a little bummed. I think it's because the battery on my phone was too low? Oh well. After doing a little math, I figured I went 6 miles in 51 minutes. Woo hoo! Afterwards I couldn't get warm again, though. I wonder if it has to do with my circulation? Most likely.

But anyway, it felt great. :)

I had a walker compliment me on my blue flashing light that I attach to the back of my running jacket. He loved it and said it's very visible.
And Alison thought it was silly...

What A Feeling

I ran with Alison last night in Downtown Seattle. We went through Myrtle Edwards park along the waterfront and past the mill on Elliott Bay. My running tracker wasn't working properly, so I didn't know how far we went until I got home: 5.86 miles! Yay! It was a looooong run, but it felt awesome. Alison and I pretty much have the exact same pace (that is, if she wasn't going slow for me!), so it was easy to get a rhythm going. The hills at the end were killer, so we walked up the steepest one--if we didn't, my lungs probably would have exploded out of my chest for sure.

Seriously a perfect evening to run, too. The water was dead calm and there was a slight breeze that felt awesome. It didn't rain at all, and we didn't run into any real sketchy characters (*phew*). Oh, but Alison almost got chased by this "bold" little dog...but it was too chicken. :)

"Workin' on our fitness"

Not necessarily to do with running, but these are the "fitness" pictures from last night (after my 4.5 mile run and Trav & Jeff's lifting):

Full Circle

Oh my gosh, I went 4.5 miles tonight. Yay! It was such a beautiful run. The air was very crisp and it smelled like snow. :) My ankle started hurting around the 4 mile mark, but I needed to finish strong (just how Uncle Doug taught me!). Thankfully there were no dog encounters. *phew*

The moon was also a pretty cool crescent shape tonight, and it was clear except for a few puffy clouds. It really was a sight.

Defense Mode

I got chased by a dog last night on my usual route. It came out of nowhere in the dark; all I could hear was the jingling of its collar. It was some medium-sized black dog, not sure what kind, but it was growling at me. I kind of put up my guard in a split second and let out a little scream (well, more of a "yelp"). It was startled by my reaction and ran away. The owner was nearby yelling at the dog (or me, I'm not sure)...I was too busy slowing my heartrate and listening to my iPod.

It was pretty funny stuff.

Woo hoo!

Getting my butt back in gear by running every day (or at least almost every day). These are my adventures, yo.
