My idea is something like this for the front:
And then I'm going to just have a little homemade sign on the back that says "Baby on board's 2nd half marathon" (because I would love to use the tank again for future runs/races). Hopefully this little sign will let people know that I'm not trying to be a douche runner, but then again, I won't be in the same "pack" as my first half marathon...so it probably won't be as competitive. My plan is to enjoy the experience! I'm totally stoked!
AND, I get to meet more running bloggers!!
The problem with this design is, I have no idea where I can get it silkscreened/printed/etc without it costing me a fortune, or having to buy in bulk. All I want is a pink athletic tank top with this yellow sign. Gah! Plus, I'm running out of time. Suggestions anyone?
Last night's run: No nose assault! It started to drizzle, but I loved it and it felt amazing to run in the rain again. One thing though...I swear I ran into a bug, but after wiping my forehead and under my glasses, I couldn't find any bug remnants (I was wearing a baseball cap and my glasses aka "the bug windshield"). Flash forward an hour or two later while I'm sitting next to Trav in the computer room. I take off my glasses to wipe the lenses and what is this? I find a dead fly on the bridge of my glasses. Trav didn't even notice because he was hard at work on the comp. Gee, thanks! Good thing I didn't go anywhere with a fly carcass just out of my peripheral vision, chillin' on my specs.
Hee hee.
Yeah, no advice here on where to go for a custom tank like that ...
ReplyDeleteBut I have to say, the fly carcass thing, um, wow. Ew. I would of cried a little I think.
Well little sister.. I think you need to stop worrying about what others will think of you and your race time. Those who know you, know your situation and those who dont know you.. who cares! Eff them! If you walk/run.. you walk/run. NO biggie!! :)
ReplyDeleteOK I've never done this but I think you could do it yourself - buy yourself the tank top, then go to a craft store like "Michael's" and they have iron-paper that you can print on. So you can design what you want, print it on your printer with the special paper, then iron it on. Not sure about how washable it would be, but at least it would get you through this one race. Just a suggestion.
ReplyDeleteAnd re: the fly carcass - eewww! Poor you!
Aw what a cute idea!! Maybe you could try Zazzle.com?
ReplyDeletespreadshirt.com or cafepress.com
ReplyDeleteDefinitely cafepress.com they're really fast. You'll have it in time for the race.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea. Its so hard to be in limbo like that. You just want to scream "I'm pregnant, OK???" when you see people eye your belly.
I don't have any suggestions on where to get the shirt but I just wanted to say it would be super cute and I hope you find it in time. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally understand the in-between stage of pregnancy. I didn't look pregnant until 25 weeks. My weight gain was minimal and I remained active, but I got a lot of questioning/you're getting fat looks from friends and strangers. Having a defined baby bump was one of my happiest pregnancy moments.
ReplyDeleteThe iron-ons from craft stores like Michaels work really well on cotton shirts. Not sure what you're planning on running in. I've made everything from bachelorette gifts to custom onesies with them. They are easy to use and hold up fairly well. Be sure to wash your shirt inside-out to prolong the life of your design.
Good luck!
cafepress or vistaprint
ReplyDeleteNot sure if vistaprint does tanks, I know they do shirts and sometimes you can get one for just the cost of shipping if they are having a sale.
LOVE the idea though.
I can't for the life of me remember which blog I saw this on, but someone else had an official bib with their number plus 1/2 on it that was below their bib. Maybe if you contacted the race organizers they would be willing to print you one or give you a duplicate of your number that you could add the 1/2 to? Just a suggestion.
ReplyDeletehmmm, can't help you out on where to get a shirt made up, but love the idea. I've been thinking of a shirt for my September marathon....thinking of an American Flag, along with "this sounded like a good idea three months ago"
ReplyDeleteI had one made here when I was preggo and got the extra long tank and wore it all the way up to 9mo.. www.customizedgirl.com and they are having a SALE!
ReplyDeleteshirt is super cute! try customizedgirl.com they do performance active wear too!
ReplyDeletethat will be adorable zoe!!
ReplyDeleteNo sugggestions on the tank top...but hope you can find somewhere to do it...it would be too cute!
ReplyDeleteThat is ewwwww. But I live in bug city this time of the year. After a sweaty run they are plastered all over me! Gross.
ReplyDeleteI saw Katye gave you a lead on your logo where to. I think it's a great idea to have something to let the world know you are a running momma with baby runner in training. You are inspiring a lot of other runners who might otherwise stop running when they are preggo. They'll remember seeing that runner at that half marathon who was pregnant and running!
Too cute! I think it should say something like "You jus got chicked by a fetus!" But i guuess you don't really know if the fetus is a girl yet...still funny!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished product!
Hahaha! That just reminded me of my funny bug story from Sunday. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the shirt, just because it's cute. I don't think other runners will be annoyed by you. :)
So did a quick search on cafepress and came up with...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.cafepress.com/+running_for_two_ts_maternity_black,392041583
http://www.cafepress.com/+future_runner_blue_maternity_dark_ts,149062952

Not sure if they'll fit the bill and not exactly what you had pictured but there ya go.
Love the blog Zoe.
ReplyDeleteCheck out www.cafepress.com
They may have lots of shirts... don't know about pink tanks, though.
I've gotten a lot of cute customized stuff from http://www.customglamgirl.com/
ReplyDeleteTMB had some tanks made up at one point... Zazzle? Something like that. Or, you could probably buy some iron on material at a fabric/craft store and DIY.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on running strong at 18 weeks. "Nursing student annoying" here: Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate!!! I can't stress it enough. The biology of the pregnant body is such that you cannot (CAN NOT) allow yourself to get even a little thirsty. Be safe! Have fun!
Great idea! Hope it works out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea with the shirt! I hope you can find somewhere to have ti made quickly & reasonably.
ReplyDeleteMy GF ran a race preggo last month and just pinned one of those "Baby on Board" signs on her top. She got a ton of comments!
Too cute!! I can't wait to see what you come up with! I was going to make some suggestions, but everyone beat me to it :)
ReplyDeleteI agree...customized girl is awesome!!! You can design your shirt on their and see what it would look like.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
there's a tank on cafepress.com that says "running for two"
ReplyDeleteLove the shirt idea! too cute!
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about spreadshirt. I'm looking to get some made for my family there!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I think you should get a shirt just so people will know they were "chicked" by someone expecting :) I love the idea of putting a sign on the back to reuse the shirt too. So exciting!
ReplyDeleteCongrats again and post pics of the shirt when it is made!!
I am dealing with some rehab for my IT band so I won't be RUNNING the rock n roll seattle like I had planned. BOO!! I will most likely be running/walking. If you want to take it easy...I would love for you to join me. It's going to be a long 31.1. Let me know.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to represent the male half of the species here - thank you for the tank!!! Do you have any idea how terrified guys are about asking if a woman is pregnant? I only made that mistake once (to find out that she wasn't...)
